Amazon to Extend Slovakia Workforce to 700

Online US retail giant, Amazon is set to increase its Slovakia workforce by 100, taking the number of employees it has in the country to 700.

The positions it will offer are in sales support and financial operations, and hiring should be complete by the end of 2015. Their operations in the country’s capital, offers services primarily to Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the UK.

Amazon began operations in Bratislava four years ago. The vice president of European operations told the TASR news service that the company had been amazed by the number of talented people they could employ in Slovakia.

In reaction to the news finance minister, Peter Kazimir said he hoped Amazon’s continued expansion in Slovakia will continue into the future.

Amazon now employs over 150,000 worldwide as of the beginning of this year. This number is expected to triple over the next five years as the company continues its expansion into other markets, and customers increasingly go online to shop.
