Ukrainian Dairy Companies to Sell to European Markets

Five Ukrainian dairy companies will be given licenses to sell into European markets by the end of the year.

The Ukrainian Minister of Agriculture and Food, Oleksiy Pavlenko, announced the news in a press conference last week.

Pavlenko said the country’s five major companies will be given licences to sell in the European Union when all conditions are deemed to have been met, primarily in terms of standards of quality. The Minister said he will be in Brussels shortly to conduct meetings with the view to opening the dairy market.

The Ukrainian dairy market had previously depended heavily on Russia with 90% of exports going to the country. The opening of the market to the European Union will go a long way to compensating for this.
